This summer, Cal Poly Rugby Head Coach David Burnett will be holding a SLO Youth Rugby Summer Camp. Held in beautiful San Luis Obispo, the camp will be open to boys & girls of all sporting skill levels between the ages of 12 and 18. Encompassing the skills of both the 15 a side game and 7’s Rugby, this camp is not to be missed if you are keen to take your rugby to the next level.

Coach Burnett has brought considerable knowledge and experience to the Mustangs from his home of Sydney, Australia. Burnett also has particular experience and success at the youth level. In 2010, he was the head coach of the Sydney U16 team that won the Australian National Championship for the first time in the club’s history. For more information on Coach Burnett go to www.calpolyrugby.com/roster.
The SLO Youth Rugby Summer Camp will focus on all the skills required for both the traditional 15 a side game, as well as Rugby 7s. These include catching, passing, tackling, decision-making, kicking, scrum and lineout technique, rucking and mauling.
There will also be a special emphasis placed on position specific skills, as well as providing players will basic backline and lineout moves they can take back to their clubs and high schools.
Other than Head Coach Dave Burnett, the players will be put through their paces by Cal Poly Alum and former USA Eagle Tony Petruzzella, as well as a number of current Cal Poly 1st XV players.
